With the secret to producing manuka honey laying with the nectar from the flowers, measuring the DHA content of the nectar became the next issue to understand. Widespread testing of the nectar from flowers of the Leptospermum Scoparium revealed that the level of DHA varied from tree to tree and from region to region. On average the DHA of the manuka Trees in New Zealand average just over 2000ppm which ultimately converts into a MGO content within the honey of 260mg/kg.
